Hi there,
I'm so new to chickens. I started reading up on them just over two weeks ago and about 3 days later my uncle gave me to pekin bantams both just over a year and then I went out 2 days later and bought 7 more chickens, 5 of which are 10 week old chicks, the other two are POL and the other has laid a few times apparently.
Now, seeing as I know almost nothing I could be freaking out over nothing... but my POL bird and one of the pekins from my uncle, seem to be breathing differently from the rest of my birds. It sounds like a wheezing and I think, there has been some sneezing .. which I honestly didn't know birds could do..
All 9 birds are together in my coop which is 3 an a half foot by 3 an a half foot not including the nest boxes. There is a 6 foot run on one door and a 8 foot run on the other. I use straw in the nest boxes and sand instead of shavings as they re so expensive and messy. I only changed to sand yesterday so I know that isn't the cause.
I feed them on a mix of Dodson & Horrell Limited Layers pellets, for the older birds. Same brand chick crumb for the chicks, mixed in with some layers pellets which are another brand. Plenty of grit and oyster shell is provided and Ive also been giving them a few meal worms as a treat. No shortage of water. The weather has been all over the place, we've had a bit of everything. So, I don't know what to do. Only two are wheezing but my other two older birds have been sneezing two, the chicks are unaffected.
Any replies will be greatly appreciated
