When an egg floats is it bad?

I just started boiling eggs, one egg floated to the top before it even started to boil, the others did not. Is this a bad egg?

Floaters are bad

Not necessarily bad, but pretty old. The older an egg is the more water it loses and the air cell gets larger and larger until the egg can actually float. The general wisdom is to discard "floaters".

I'd open it up and see why...

A dozen bad eggs, ugh I boiled them and when I tasted them yuck! Dang now I'm out of eggs !
