My chicks are 4 weeks old. I have noted in several different forums on here, that you should add apple cider vinegar to their water for several different health reasons. When I acquired my chicks ( the day they hatched) from Meyer I also purchased some Vitamins marked Vita pack Vitamin and Electrolyte supplement (I think its called). I have been putting this in their water everyday- so my question is.... How long do I continue this? And should I switch over to ACV anytime soon? The chicks are all very healthy and doing well at this point. Thanks in advance for the input.

Thank you-I will start this week.... How much ACV?

I did like 100 searches on how much and found any where from 1 tbs per Gal to 4 tbs per Gal. I finally decided to split it down the middle. Mind you I am new, however I was getting poopie but before and no signs since I started using it.

Great! Thank you, I'm new too and really appreciate your help on this!

I know this is an old post, but in case someone comes across this, using ACV will provide some health benefits acrossed the board, however most people I know or have read about use ACV along with honey and garlic as a replacement for a commercial vitamin and electrolyte mix.

My experience is limited, but I gave them a recipe I got from Justin Rhodes from the first day I got them. I had a minor problem with pasty butt a couple weeks in, but I believe that to be stress from colder than expected temperatures and not from lack of commercial supplements. I started with 32 chicks, and 3 died from cold. The rest did great and were constantly escaping the brooder before I could finish their run.
