When are Easter Egger Chicks available and how do they do in winter?

So, a friend told me about Easter Eggers and it said that the chicks are available in Feb. When will they stop being available? Also, do they lay well in the winter or do they just stop? I heard they lay 44 eggs per week; is there any bird that lays 6 or 7?

EE's lay one egg a day if that so I don't know where you got 44! LOL. I have had standard ee's in the past that wintered very well but the bantam ee's I have now I just don't know how well they are gonna do, they are very small. Egg production isn't as bad as everyone says in the winter in fact mine lay well when it's cold when they are not broody of course.

I have a standard EE. I haven't been through a full winter with her yet, but I can tell you she is one of my best layers. Others have started slowing down and she's still laying 6 a week. (she's the only one that lays green eggs, so it's pretty obvious when she's laying and when she's not)

my EE's slow down in the winter, i may get 1 or 2 eggs a week, i only give them extra 2 hours of light in the winter, i dont want to push them to hard in the winter, so when spring and summer comes i will get eggs every day.

I got my EE's at the end of September from MPC. I think how long they are available depends on the hatchery.

I have standard EEs and they lay very well all winter. Mine lay blue and green eggs and I am still getting about 6 eggs a week per girl. I just popped 31 of their eggs in the bator last night. I have some egg customers that want only their eggs, they are large to jumbo size and beautiful.

And my girls and roo are just gorgeous!

you may want to check in the sellers ads or put a ad in the Want to buys for some one in your area
