When are eggs safe to incubate/stops being a 'pullet/new' egg?

My 9.5 year old hen is the best broody and never had any health issues in her life.
The young are more fertile, I was simply giving an example of that.

I too have had many great old birds that will hatch and rear youngsters, even when they have stopped laying completely.

How about because it's unnatural and unnecessary, and basically a waste of time ?
Isn't keeping chickens unnatural if you think about it?
Being domesticated isn't exactly a natural thing.
Unnecessary and a waste of time is just a personal opinion.
