My ducklings are 6 weeks old! I am hoping to move them from the basement to their coop SOON. How much longer will they need a heat lamp? I'm pretty sure they are fully feathered, and the lowest overnight temperature for the next 2 weeks is 57 degrees F. I'm thinking they will be okay, but I just wanted to see what the experts thought.

I don't know about ducks, but I do know that for chickens you can move them into at 1 month or so. I just had to keep a lamp in the coop for about a week, but I took it out a while ago. Hope this helps!

The general guideline is 90F the first week dropping 5F per week till the brooder temperature is the same as the rest of their environment.

So, 6 weeks times 5 is 30. 90 minus 30 is 60. That is pretty close to 57.

As long as their outdoor shelter is predator proof, they are probably ready.
