I liked the idea at first, but now after 12 hours of paper towel, and changing it twice already (34 chicks), and knowing they are all eating well, I think it's gross to look at!!!!
Can I take it out, or should I wait another day?

I definitely wouldn't use paper towels in the brooder after they're two days old. That's probably just me. I would also be a lot less likely to use it at all....for that reason - it seems like more of a mess to me.

Well I dont even use paper towels, so I say sure , take it out LOL

Thanks for the info! I am about to add bedding, clean out waterers and feed dishes, so I will go ahead and take it out.
To me, it's yucky, cause they poop all over it then want to sleep there......at least with the pine shavings, it(poop) works its way down a bit.
I watched them very carefully, and none have even attempted to eat it. They have, however, been picking it up and flinging it... to the annoyance of the older chicks who just stare at them.
