Our chicks are 5 weeks old now.. We are almost done with the coop and the run.. Coop should be done this weekend when they'll be 6 weeks old.. When the coop is done at 6 weeks.. will they still need the heat lamp in the coop ?

Our temps this week are getting to mid to low 70's high and our lows at night are in the 40's and 50's..

We have 2 Easter eggers, 2 Barred Rocks and 2 Buffs..

thanks for any help!

I put mine out at 4 1/2 weeks without their heat lamp... and it was april in chicago, so it still got chilly at night, and they were fine. They'll keep themselves warm. Just as long as they have all their feathers, which they should around that age, they'll be just fine

. I was wondering if we needed a long extension cord and to put the heat lamp out there.. I figure we may have to in the winter? Our coop is insulated through out.. Speaking of.. I need to update my coop work in progress thread!
