Hi, my guinea story would be unique, about 5 years ago we found a guinea fowl sleeping in the screen of our motor home, he had made quite a mess, so my husband removed the screen to clean it and so the guinea decided to move into the yard, he picked a corner where I had some potted trees, he would mostly spend his days there and fly up to a branch on the gum tree to sleep, I would throw out some seed each day for him until I found him eating the kangaroo meat I was feeding the Kookaburras, he loved it, I cut it up smallish pieces for him.
About 4 months ago I think, a female turned up outside, no idea where she came from but, one day she disappeared but came back for a feed every few days, I tried to follow her but he would not let me, about 5 weeks ago now, both mum and dad turned up with 15 Keets, they wandered around then dissapeared again till a couple of days later, minus 1 keet, for 2 weeks this was happening, till there was only 10 left, they took up residence in the potted area of the lawn, I continued to feed them seed and meat, now the past week they have been sleeping on the hand rail on my front deck, making a heck of a mess they are very healthy and all fly to the roof on the carport.
I have just been reading your site to find out at what age can they be given away, and if it is wise to separate them, I feel that we will have more babies on the way soon enough and my husband is over the poopy mess he has to clean daily.
