When can you trim wing feathers?

Hello everyone,

Well the girls are becoming quite the flyers. When is it ok to trim their flight feathers?

The other two links have some additional info on clipping bird wings.

As soon as they have their wing feathers you could clip. But, maybe there is something else to it when it comes to chickens.... hopefully someone will offer up more info. But having had other types of birds. I don't see why you couldn't do it now.

I think when the feathers are grown all the way (not fluffy)

Oh boy, I'm sure glad you asked that question. My chicken run is way too big for netting and I would hate to have them fly over their fence. As for flying predators, I have a very large maple tree that shades/protects most of the area.
