When did you integrate chicks/mamas back with flock?

Ours only have a coop at night (it to lay) otherwise free range ❤️
Our chicks and mamas are in a separate coop and an enclosed run. However lots of interaction between them and flock! Our head chicken is broody, so I’m probably more worried than I should be!
Probably. Free ranging is the best to avoid stress. And head hens are in general great to raise a flock.

I would be worried to free range chicks where I live. We have an abundance of cats and smaller birds of prey.

I decided to open their little gate today, and everyone is happy 😂

Our babies are all 1-1.5weeks old today.
Their mamas and them are in a “henternity ward” but can still see the main flock. Wondering when you integrated your babies and mamas back with the flock?
I 'introduced' my broody and chicks the flock briefly the day she came off the nest but waited 3 days before opening the door to the divided run .The chicks and momma have been with the flock ever since(they free range daily)

Congrats on the littles and the good introduction!

I left mine with the flock. Didn't separate at any point.
Mine were chicks without an adult flock or momma bird, but when my broodies hatched some eggs they were fine taking care of themselves in the flock (bathe, eat, etc) AND when the eggs hatched, nobody bothered the chicks or momma.

*might be confusing. My original flock are 11 months, and were hatchery chicks.
I hatched some of their eggs (well, they hatched their own eggs. I just picked which ones)
