I kind of alway have since I've owned chickens
Today however I was grocery shopping and said outloud to myself..oh I told my chickens I would get them watermelon.

I was shopping by myself lol. And actually stopped and thought I cant believe I just said that lmao

When I begged my husband, like a 5 year old (for real begging like a kid) for a cockerel that my neighbors had found on a road and wanted to rehome. Picture a kid begging for candy in a grocery store.


ETA: We had no chickens, nor a chicken coop at the time, so we started with a cockerel

When I added a rooster and ducks to the flock...which at the time, was in a mobile home park. Management wasn't too thrilled. So, I got rid of the park... not the birds.

I'm the sanest person I know.
I guess I might be a wee bit obsessed with birds. I've spent more money on them than I ever want to count and I use most of my free time to do chicken-related things. I set dozens of eggs every year (I have 20 in right now) and usually drag a few home from the feed store too. I only have one coop, but I do have quite a few pens and I'm building more and more. I'm starting on a quail multiplex soon. I'd have more if finances allowed, but I settle for keeping a smaller flock of ~40 and learning all I can about them from the Internet.
