My girl, Maranga, started at about 22 weeks about ONE week after the temperature went below 100F.
she gives me an egg a day and struts her stuff as if she knows. Forget what breed she is. red & some white. Waiting for the rest of the flock to get the hint that hot summer is over!
21 weeks, Rhode Island Red. Or possibly a day shy of 21 weeks. And a Black Copper Marans, same age, started a day or two later. I have 3 at 26 weeks that haven't yet started.
One of my Goldlaced Wyandotte and an Australorp laid at 22 weeks, but the other Gold-laced and Australorp laid at 24 weeks. My blue-laced Red Wyandotte laid at 30 weeks so not sure if breed always tells when they lay, (Though I’m pretty new to chickens). They all laid throughout winter, but now with the molt only the Blue-laced is still laying, though her feathers are looking dull so expect her to stop soon.
