I'd suggest getting considerably more pullets. One cockerel / rooster can readily cover 10 females. Having one male and one pullet is not a good idea as the resultant over-breeding will likely lead to physical damage and stress for the pullet.

I have 8 females right now. 2 buff, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Wyandotte and 3 Easter Eggers.
