When do chickens lay?

I have one girl that gets her job done before she goes out to play. The rest wait until I leave for work. I'm pretty sure it's an insurance policy- I have to visit them a few times a day if they don't all lay at once :)

Mine just started laying (1 of the 5) eggs; we found the first one in the afternoon and the next one in the morning. I was so excited I broke the first one.

My Red Rhode Island is 6 months and lay two eggs the other day; not in the nest box, it's been almost a week and I've been looking all over my backyard and no luck is this normal?

Ours were a little random at first, but now 4 production reds lay one each daily in the morning - usually before 10 am
Had a couple of them lay some soft-shell in the evening when they first started , but all have been fine & normal & consistant for the past couple weeks since first egg at end of july.
One of our EE just laid her first egg today @430 - usually let them out by noon'ish to free-range - our young roo "escorted" her back to the coop to do the deed

It depends on the chicken
Most of mine lay in the morning (20) and (7) in the afternoon
I have 27 hens and 3 roosters
I also have 5 pulletd I am waiting for to start laying

Holy Cow!!! 20? That's allot. I should have gotten more hens when I first got them. But this is my first "flock" so I'm still new at this.
