They lay when they are ready to lay

They will lay a small off white egg.

Chickens usually lay anytime after 22 weeks. Each breed and bird will be different.
 
My girls are about 21 weeks old. One is laying now. so yes.. 22 weeks is about right. the first egg looked brown, but they are now off white, just as chickenlady said!

My d'uccles are 7 months old and not a single egg! What gives? They get layer feed and greens and have plenty of room. I'm BAFFLED.
 
Hooray! This means mine should start laying any time now!
They turn 22 weeks this Thursday, November 17, 2016!
