This is my first year raising ducks and due to reasons i’ve been sharing my bedroom with them. 7 weeks with 6 Blue Indian Runners was a dream compared to the new 18 i’m brooding (Pekin, Rouen, Blue Swedish). All night they stampede across my bedroom! Not even exaggerating on how much noise they create.

I love them to bits but my Runners never spent their days stomping around my wood floor. They’re a little over 1 week old and, i assume, just hyper bundles of fluff. Anyone know around when i can expect them to finally burn off their baby energy?

Don't know about other ducks, but my 4 little ducklings just became more messier and active with each passing day. Its like their baby energy never got finished. When they were small they were very quiet and peaceful but now they are really noisy and always hungry no matter how much you feed them. They are very troublesome but i love them a lot. This pic from when they were 2 weeks old, now they are 8 weeks old.

First of all they should be in a very large brooder at night so they sleep not party having 18 means a very large brooder. Or if you have a way to keep them warm put them inside a secure building outside so they have their own space. That’s alot of ducklings and a lot of poop to wake up to every morning.

I've only got 11 that are 3 days old and the amount of poop is unbelievable! I can't even imagine!

Those are some cute babies! My Runners are 8.5 weeks old now and 2 have finally started quacking. I love it, they’re gonna get so noisy!

As for the little ones, i got a decent system to stay on top of their mess so it aint too bad. They got a big totebox with a heatlamp to sleep under. There’s a doorway in that so they can get in and out, and on my floor is all the puppy pee pads with their food and water. This way they always have dry litter to sleep on and i can toss the pee pads as they get soiled.

They’re just so hyper! Alls they wanna do is run around. They performed a jailbreak, discovered my room is bigger, now they want the whole floor! They keep peeping at me to open up their barrier and let them out XD

Yours are sooo cute and so many. I even find it hard to manage my four babies, they are so hyper.

Mine did too when I went from heat lamp to brood plate but they got over it. I can’t imagine 18 in my house 6 was enough. They all just moved out to their own house last night 3 two weeks olds 1 three week old and two 5 week olds. They are doing great!
