I have a 6 week old and I posted 3 weeks ago to see if it was a roo at age 3 weeks. So, if he is for sure, a lot of people said it was, when do they start to develop pointy hackle feathers and saddle feathers. He has regular feathers, hes not like a silkie or anything. He is an Andalusian mixed breed cross.

Mine start to get them around 8-10 weeks.

Here's an 8 week old cockerel

And the same cockerel at 10 weeks.

And he's part brahma so a slightly slower feathering breed. I can't ever tell if the hackles are pointy or not until around 12 weeks though. Saddles are much more obvious to me.

Thanks a lot! Helps with pictures/visuals for me!

12 weeks is the average. It can often be seen below the top feathering before 12 weeks, but doesn't often poke out until 12 weeks.
Here's a comparison of female vs male feathering. (Orpington)
13-ish weeks.

No problem! Yes, pics are always more helpful than trying to explain IMO. I'm glad they helped you! Good luck with your chicks! What breed are they?
This is the only chick that hatched. But it is is with some quails for company, they are all the same age. The chick is an Andalusian Chicken crossed with a mixed breed roo.

Oh, yeah sorry I missed that 😂
That makes sense. Thanks.
