I have a polish chicken that I'm not sure about the age of it, but I'm guessing it be about 2 to 3 months old. Its been trying to crow for the past week or so. Is it at the age that it should be trying to crow?
There's no real set age for them to start crowing. My first three roosters, I never heard a peep out of them until they were all seven or eight months old. I have a two month old cockerel right now who's practicing his voice, and the squeaky little crows are adorable. Heck, I've seen a video of a chick a couple days old trying to crow.
We have a little leghorn that I thought was gasping for air at about 3 days old. turned out he was just trying to crow. I had 6 leghorn pullets....but ended up with 5 girls and 1 roo. Lol.
Anyway, he is pretty aggressive. The other roo, a black copper maran that I had as a baby didn't crow until his hen that he grew up with was laying. Then I noticed another voice out in the coop. Lol.
With my first rooster, he started crowing at about 5 or 6 months. But with not knowing how old this rooster really is. Makes it hard to tell what age he is starting to crow at.
