When do the hens start laying?????????

This is my second year and I got some new chicks this year. They are 16 to 18 weeks old now. Most are americanas. I did see the roo mating with one today. Should be going soon if not already. Am I thinking right???? Thanks for any info you can share with me.

My Americauna started laying at 23 weeks. The waiting is so difficult.
