My cockerel is 7-9 weeks old and I'm wondering when he'll start to crow? I hope he won't need voice lessons or anything like that. LOL

I have had bantam roosters start trying as early as 3 weeks old.

For me it has always been that the larger they are the later they start crowing.

I have a Easter Egger who turned 7 weeks on Monday and he started to crow today. I thought he was choking at first. But nope he was crowing I was able to video tape it. It is the funniest/most pathetic/ cutest thing.

When they want to.

My welsummer cockeral started crowing at 4 days old. I have a BR rooster who is 7 weeks old and I think he's starting to try out his voice. I have another BR rooster who is not attempting to crow, he's very timid.

My Americana is 5 months old and still no crowing. I noticed he was straining with his mouth open as if to crow but nothing. I decided maybe he needed to be taught. I sat up and crowed like a roo. All the girls and the roo froze in their tracks and just stared at me. I did it a few more times and still nothing. I figure my neighbors might have heard me and figured I had flipped so I decided to let nature teach him how to crow.
