When do they practice crowing?

When will my suspected roosters start to "practice" crowing?

all different times for different birds. I've got plenty of young roos in my juvie pen outside and only heard 1 try to crow. But they are surrounded by adult pens with big scary daddy roos crowing all day long. Then I was just in my garage checking on the babies, and my 2 week old frizzled cochin crowed twice! I couldn't believe it! I think if they are the only boys around, they may crow sooner. If they have lots of adult noisy Roos around them, they may wait and think they are girls...lol

It's kind of like vocal changes during puberty for guys. There is no set age or time; everyone is different.

My EE erel started crowing at 12 weeks old.

1 of my silkies just started practicing his crowing the other day. He is about 12 wks old. He sounded pretty sick

but I am sure he will get it sooner or later.

Hopefully you'll be as lucky as we are Our big boy cochin is 6 mo and not yet crowing. Many of mine started showing signs of trying in the brooder at abt 4-6 weeks of age. These were mostly bantams. I'm wondering if the standard may take longer to mature.
