When do they start laying again ??

When do quail start Laying again?
I'm in New Zealand and its winter, we've passed the shortest day. They have not layed for a couple months now.
How long do they stop laying for?
What day light hours do they need to lay?
Also if I used light to bring them on again, would like some solar string lights be sufficient?

String lights are great. Give them 14 hours a day.

Nobody's paying rent at your place.

Also it will take a few weeks for the lights to trigger them to lay. You didn't mention the age of the birds, but it's also worth noting that older (than one year) birds start to slack of on the lay as well, so at some point you'll want to start thinking about refreshing your stock.

Thank you, I think they are about 6 months old, they started laying at 6 weeks for about a month then they stoped.
So if I string up some solar lights they will turn on at night and keep going, would that be ok?
