When do you collect your eggs?

i get eggs about 5 times a day,, i hatch all mine, so i dont want any chances of weather or a "mis-step" ,, i get eggs from daylight, till dark, when i let them out in the morning, theres usually 1,, all through the day, and i grab the last one at night when i lock em in.

before I got the quail last week I chceked once a day in the evening. like between 4-8 pm my 2 chickens would be sitting on the eggs and I gently reach in under them and they let me have the eggs if they are there.. they are really nice girls.

now that I have the quail I check at least 3 times a day hoping to get more eggs to hatch! I know the watched pot never boils but I also like to be in the barn when my kids have been home for 2 weeks and cant go outside because its neg 30 out!!! it is my place of solitude!!!!! its quiet in there!!! I mean as quiet as a barn can be.... at least the birds and rabbits dont fight like my kids do!!!!

My DH checks first thing in the morning, we have a late layer. At least two hens cackle loudly to brag so we go out then too. Maybe late morning early afternoon. In the summer we have a line waiting. Everyone wants to lay at the same time and even though we have more than one box, well, everyone has to lay in the same box. Go figure. In the winter they lay at all hours. At least they're laying.

If i see some in the morning when i let the girls out i usually grab them. Then i go back out around four and then at bedtime. It's cool enough now that i feel ok leaving them til later in the day. During the summer (100 plus degrees) i check several times through out the day.

I guess I will keep on checking the boxes several times a day. I live in FL so I don't want to chance leaving any in the hot sun for more than a few hours. Thx for all the answers!!

My DS checks around 7:00 am to be sure all have food and water, and collects any eggs.

I check on them around 3:00-3:30pm when I get home from work, and I usually find more eggs.

We sometimes check on them after they roost for the night, and we'll usually find a couple more eggs.

As you can see, ours lay all during the day.
