When do you jump in and help a chick hatch... chick ripped intestines and bowel out of body.

gall bladder at least in humans.... is tiny.... the size of the ball that was attached to his intestines full of bright green antifreeze looking fluid and other stuff... looked like a ovarian cyst in a human..... sorry for the graphic description... but that is what it looked like.... intestines.... way out of the body and yes still alive....
This is sort of coincidence but i also bought some lavender orp eggs from someone on ebay.None hatched but on opening them there were chickns in every egg but one ,all at differnt stages but 2 were big enough to have feathers and had insides on the outside.
It may have been all of the organs or just intestines the fetuses were too small to see well what exactly was there but i coud see large intestines for sure, ..They had only gotten to about one inch long , Not to birth.
So could your chick have had this condition before he zipped?
I wonder if its a defect in the lavender orps as the color is rather new. Maybe there is something with the lavender gene that also causes the malformation of the intestines on these LO babys sometimes.I have read some animal genes also can carry other things, sometimes negative, beside the desired feature.Or maybe just coincidence.
If its intestines are truly out side its belly you may have to cull it as it will die anyway eventually unless you want to take it to a vet to see what he says or if it can be fixed..It could be in pain if its peeping constantly.I am sure it cant last really long
Is it bleeding around the wound like the belly tore.? If not i would think its a birth defect the green sac part of the whole messed of mixed up guts.Sorry you have this aweful problem

Funny you should say this..... as I had two shipments of lavenders..... just about every lavender hatched in the one shipment. The other shipment 1 hatched but not without help (it is a big lavender chick and it was real weak) the other eggs were clear.... this eggster was in that condition upon hatching. those two were from that shipper... in the same set and incubator as the others but the others lav orps hatched well... my silkies in same bator also hatched every fertile egg.

I would not mention the name of the shipper in a suggestive post as this could be a shipment problem. I was told by a man I was sent a shipment of a very nice line of maran eggs from that the reason my eggs were all clear on day 25 was due to the fact that he was soooo far away and he suggested that I buy eggs closer to me to avoid egg stress and time eggs were in transit..

I think that is a good idea and will hopefully make a big difference in the case of eggs he hatches weekly and never sees such a high rate of infertile eggs such as the ones he sent me. I was very much discouraged from the hatch of those two breeders chicks..
1. marans wasted my time
2. the only two non clear orps were not well upon hatch and it was stressful to have to put one down.

On the other hand... the devil on my shoulder says..... priority mail is the same whether you are 7 hund miles away or 1200 it still comes at the same time.
I do believe that airline travel at that high altitude may create issues for eggs. Too bad you have to order the lines you really want to have if you do not know of any closer...
I am fine with the one lavender from that person... would have like to have had at least 3 but.... you live and learn.

I did not think I would ever incubate again after having to kill that chick.... but I think perhaps maybe I might experiment with cheap local eggs with the different incubation methods..
such as the dry method for instance.... just to see if local eggs or different methods make a difference

If you like I can message you the name of the breeder who had a high lavender hatch rate of healthy little chicks...

I will not however speak ill of any other breeder by announcing publicly or privately that theirs did not do so well, I am sure there are many factors in egg shipping and in incubation that factor in to such things.

I would love that name of t he lavender orp high hatch breeder.Thanks.

. No I wouldnt name names of bad hatches as there are so much that can go wrong .Who knows. and maybe its a hen that has problems the breeder hasnt discovered yet.I dont think ppl would send eggs knowingly from a hen that had lots of bad hatches. But still when you pay money you hope to get one or 2.. if nothing totally screws up during the incubation.
im alittle worried about the shipping temps now as most places its hot so will my eggs start to incubate before i put them in? I read on some website that if that happens the chicks are weak and often die in the egg.

I do have 2 ppl that it sre sort of driveable to go to get Lavender Orp eggs. One is 3 hours away but the other is actuall y5 hours almost NOt drivable.I will get some from the closets lady but she only will sell me 5 eggs.Hope they are a good 5!!!
