When do you replace old quail roosters?

When I first started raising quail, the last of my original males were just over 6 years old when they died (the hens never lived that long). Up until they were 5 years old or so, I hatched eggs from their hens regularly. I never had any lack of fertility. Each had 4-5 hens each in their own cages (which were 4'x2').
