Option 1
Day one starts when you put the eggs in. So if you put in the eggs on a Monday the hatch (21 days) will happen on a Sunday.

Option 2
Like Bdays, Day one is not reached until 24 hrs are up. So if you put the eggs in on Monday, the hatch will happen on Monday.

i think it's the second one.
i know, bummer right?
be more fun if we could put 'em in and call it a day, move right on to day TWO - wheeeeee

and i could be wrong. i'm new so i'm dum!

anywhoo, they will hatch when they feel like it. i'm sitting here at TWO AM watching my bator full of chirping slightly pipped eggs. it's day 20 and they were supposed to start piping yesterday (seramas). the suspense is killing me.

not to totally hijack your post

it's just that i understand the time/anxiety/wanting it to be later than it actually is thing!

Maybe this is what we are doing wrong!!

I thought day one started when you set the eggs and finished 24 hours later??

Simple plan:

If you put them in before lunch time (noon) then thats day 1
if afternoon or later in the day next day is day 1

RIGHT?

We usually put ours in in the evening. So they go in Monday night and Tuesday is day 1.
Remember, even slight temp variations will spped up or delay the hatch. The exact day
is not all that critical.

I suppose if you were a hatchery with expensive and huge bators you can get it more
down to a science. I have to think different breeds must vary the exact hatch time
a little too. (just guessing)
