Turn off your portable electronic devices.
So speaking of the news earlier... anyone see the thing on whats-his-face actor getting kicked off the plane?
I was really surprised to see the opinion poll on that (ok not always an accurate thing, BUT), that the results were 75% were for him getting the boot, and 25% actually thought they should have let him stay??!! I don't understand why anyone would think that is OK.
As a former flight attendant... I got sooo tired of having to treat people like 5 year olds... "Can we please turn off the electronic devices" "this is why" so on, and so forth.
YES.. we can see the little blue lights reflected on the ceiling
And THEN I actually had more than one person answer me... after I explained the safety hazard... "Well, I'm willing to take that risk". WELL there are more people on board than just YOU and you cannot make that decision for all of them!
It still surprises me when I hear people say things blaming the flight attendants and pilots and TSA officers for a situation. You know there are rules binding them, right? With mroe than loosing a job at stake.. more like serious legal reprecussions.
FAA rules happen to state very clearly that NO commercial flight is legally allowed to take off with portable electronic devices on. Flight attendants are drilled to call the Captain in the case of a passenger refusing any direction, and then it's always the Captain, as Pilot in Command, that makes that decision to boot someone off. They are the ones who have to make that call.
Oooopsie... this might be more of a rant
