In my family we call it TMA syndrome. It's contagious. There's no cure. You die with the disease and you seek others with the same affliction. (to many animals)
I was happily cruising around in the various forums and found a BYC friend of mine's post in which she said she sent one of her hens to "a home with a crap load of roosters." Huh. Well, yes, there ARE a lot of roosters here, but ..... <*sputtering*> only slightly more than the recommended ratio of roo to hen. Wait, I think that may have been the point. There is a crap load of chickens here...
Plus chicks in the brooders, eggs in the incubators...
I know I don't have a problem! I only have 8 chickens! Well I do have 5 chicks but from all of the "chicken math" threads I have read, chicks don't count. Out of that five I might have two girls so the most I will be keeping is 10. Those 28 eggs going in the bator tomorrow? Well those are DH's birthday present so they are not my eggs they are his, so they don't count and whatever hatches out of them won't be mine they will be his so I will still only have 10 chickens! See no problems here!
I perfer to not see myself as a chicken addict but as a groupie. It's more fun and requires less justification and math was never my strong suit. I realised (sp) I was a groupie when I spent $350 for a brood rooster. *sigh*
