LOL! I've been out adding insulation - actually dropping a ceiling using the 2" R-19 foam insulation. It stayed above freezing in there with the one lamp in the brooder, and that was the temp on the floor.

We just got the heat-cable applied to half of the watering system. I'll have to document the rest of it when hubby does the other half. (He's on his way home with a bear...

Quail_Antwerp has not even got her bator yet and she told me last night that she is already wanting another bator! I mean I think she should get at least one more too! You should always have two bators. What if one breaks? You always need a backup.

That's only the first reason for a second bator. I can come up with at least 41 more.

Plus it sounds good in court.

my husband totally nixed the idea of a second 'bator, even to the point of saying we can build a homemade hatcher....*grumbles* man must be smarter than I first thought...

They are both LG's, one still air and one forced air! I will use the still air as a hatcher.

I promised my DH that I wouldn't get a bator till the spring. But reading all these posts...(especially the one from 77horse) I don't think I can wait... I was a normal person 3 months ago...but now these chickens, they've taken over my mind. LOL!!

Want a rcom 20 bator, but don't want to pay for it

so I've been thinking about the genesis 1588. Will this be good for a newbie??
