When is it too late to bond with new ducklings and chicks

from New Mexico!

You will do fine. Food is a good motivator for any age of poultry! When they are chicks, spend a lot of time with them and they will follow you around like drooling puppies. If they are older birds, nothing that some treats won't do for their love for you!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I am actually living in Spain so hope it´s OK to be on here.

Any age will bond with you easily. If all a matter of FOOD and TREATS.

Every time you go to feed them, call them and be close to them. Talk to them when you are giving treats, or rattle a tin when its food time. Soon they will all come running to you every time they see you......thinking you have food!!!!

I actually find it easier to get older birds tame like this, as they eat a lot and are more greedy than the small chicks.

Great advice - I will bribe them with treats I suppose it works on children so why not. We have been given an old 8 x 4 feet old shed which we need to collect then repair and put a run around it. We will also let them out into a 1,000 square meter plot once they are settled. How long should we keep them in the smaller run before we let them out into the larger area.

This is a fantastic site with so much information I didn´t know there was so much to learn about keeping ducks and chickens.
