When ordering hatching eggs Why do they suggest you leave the eggs out of the incubator for 24 hours upon arrival?

i think people shipping eggs need every disclaimer they can come up with so you dont blame them for a poor hatch rate and want your money back ... the way i see it the eggs can settle in the incubator just fine AND eggs start to develop around 80 some odd degrees, chances are unless its really cold time of the year that somewhere along the way they got warm and cozy enough to start .. and then what, im gonna slap them in a bucket on the counter for a day .. i dont think so lol, just my point of view .. ive done a few ebay orders now, people keep asking me for chicks at work .. they go straight from the mailbox into the incubator, and so far hatchrates have been great .. i to, try to order from a neighboring state so transit time is ~3 days or less and its less likely they get shipped on a plane and 'decompressed' in the upper atmosphere haha ... anyways .. .my thoughts ..

So does this mean to let them sit out at room temperature for 24 hours? Like 72 degrees?

Yes just set them next to your incubater

The only time I wait to set shipped eggs is when they are very cold (close to freezing). I set as soon as possible but start turning in 24-36 hours. You have no guarantee how fresh the eggs are and if "resting" will help the air cell 60 degrees isn't better than 100 degrees.
