Sorry, this may be a stupid question to ask, but I keep weighing my young Buff Orpingtons, and they're nowhere near standard weight. They're almost six months old, and still have a couple of pounds to go to reach standard weight. Is there a chance that they will make it???

Generally most birds will reach their standard weight at about 6 to 8 months. Some may grow a little faster than others and some a little slower. I don't have any BOs so I am not sure how fast they mature.

Some lines of birds are not bred for weight but for color or dual purpose use. So it is possible that they may never get to standard weight. That said some breeds do not get to standard weight until over 1 year old.
