Mother hen has been sitting on her clutch for 20 days now! My silkie has 5 egg under her that i gave her october 18th at 11:30 am. So tomorrow at 11:30 am will be exactly 21days.

When should i expect them to hatch? I know they all range. But two nights ago was really cold and the coop wasnt winterized to the tee yet. So im a little scared it might of affected the eggs if moma hen couldnt keep them warm enough. After how long should i give up and start to think they arent going to hatch? (Passed the 21day mark)

They will hatch at 21 days, you can wait up to 48 hours after the 21 day mark. I got my first pip on day 20 then most hatched in the morning or afternoon of day 21.

I did egg-topsies 48 hours after day 21 and had one that was very weak but still alive. It is living happily now with no problems.

Is it safe to remove the hen just to quickly check the eggs? Will they get chilled if i take her off for 1 minute. Its probably 5-10°C in there.

Just an update... it was -20°C last night... my coop is completly insulated but the floor... there is a heat lamp beside her angled facing her but i am very sceptical that they are still viable... should i wait or should i check. Note that i havnt touched or checked the eggs since ive given them to her..... @Miss Lydia would you have an opinion on this? Sorry i know that your very helpfull
