When should I expect my chicks?

It's now 7 days since my turkey hen hatched it's Eggs and I hurriedly when through a post here titled 'Turkey 101' and I really got good guide. Now apart from the anti cocsidiosis treatment for the poults they don't really need anything?

I don't worry about coccidiosis. I provide my poults with 28% protein non-medicated turkey/gamebird starter for at least the first two weeks. It is recommended that they get the starter for the first 6 weeks. I follow that with 24% turkey/gamebird grower for at least another couple of weeks.

That's good, I got it. Thank you and please how long will the hen lay again after removing the little poults from it?

Just to make sure that I am understanding your question, are you asking how long it will be before the hen starts laying eggs again?

That is something that depends on the individual hen. I had one hen that started laying eggs within 2 weeks of hatching her clutch. She was still with her new poults and was laying eggs in the same nest with them. Most take longer. Because of how much it takes out of a hen to sit for a month hatching eggs, they really need time for their bodies to heal. They also need to up their intake of oyster shell and high quality feed or the first eggs will be soft shell.

If allowed to raise the poults herself, the hen is very likely not to lay eggs again until the next laying season.

That's my question. And you answer it the way I can understand. Thank you. I'll keep on with more questions if the needs arises. Have a nice day.

So sad! I came back from work and found that my poults (newly hatched) were haggard, opening and closing their mouths. I discovered that their waterer is empty. I hurriedly fetched some water for them. To my dismay as I guided them to drink the water, two of them died after taking the water. the remaining I continue nursing them until sometime before they gain energy again. What could have killed them?

Sorry you lost you poults. My guess is that they were too dehydrated and got the water too late. If the water was cold from just having filled the waterer, that could have contributed to the problems.
