They are so darned cute, I don't know how anyone can resist!

CW - when you have a little money stash it in a little jar waaaaay in the back of your closet and only take it out when you see a silkie at a flea market. You could even get all fancy and put little pictures on the jar, so that when you feel broke and tempted to get into it you can see that little fluffy reminder. IMO, the only way to resist a silkie is to have no money and a strong desire to eat at some point during the week.

Zoo - we have a LONG list of birds we want once we find our little place in the country and move (hopefully in the fall). And your frizzled cochins are totally on the list

Oh how I wish that would work- I've gotten no work during the winter- All my little odd jobs died with the economy!! And I have three kids at home - 16, 12, and 9. I always have to raid my little stashes for the rugrats!!

BTW- Now if I could buy silkies with foodstamps- I'd have several!!!

That stinks! Children do seem to demand to be fed every now and then. Picky picky creatures

I just added 13 buff silkie eggs from SilkieChicken (thanks for bringing them down!). We will soon find out if her roo is doing his job.

My humidity has been around 36-41 the entire time. I did have my temp go up a few degrees temporarily when I added the new eggs, but I caught it pretty fast. I checked one of the eggs in the hotter areas a few hours later, and I could see a tiny little pulsating embryo amongst the veins, so I think I skated through that. It was really my own fault. I put the new eggs in and it didn't seem to be getting up past 98 after a bit, so I figured that the new eggs were throwing it off. I turned up the thermostat a bit when I just should have left it alone. It was my own fault, and I am hoping I didn't damage anything. Tomorrow I candle my eggs from chickenzoo, and I will get a better idea then.

I am almost finished with my fancy new brooder box, I just need to wire it.
