If Im not mistaken there was a weight loss thread here..

I was wondering if any of you have/are experiencing starvation mode.

I am 21 have 2 kids and aside from being preggo I the most now than I ever had.
I dont exactly want to put my weight up here because I dont want to get the 'oh youre underweight or oh i bet you look just fine!' or the flat out 'SHUT UP!' kinda thing.

I know what looks good for my body type and what Im at right now is not good.
Lets see...

About a year ago I bumped up 4lbs. I did not like this and started watching what I was eating. No matter what I ate my weight would be +/- a pound.

Winter months came and my outdoor activity stopped (I hate hate hate the cold weather...)and my weight went up another 3 lbs. I started restricting myself even more.

Now that its warming up and Ive been working out in the yard I would have expected to have dropped but no! Its always +3lbs or -3lbs from the +.

I know the +3 lbs sounds silly but when you add all the weight up its 10 lbs! So I range from day to day 7 to 10 lbs weight gain.
Ive cut out my breakfast to a cup of coffee and maybe a piece of fruit for lunch Ill eat a peanut butter and honey sandwich, a light snack, and dinner (which we use to eat rolls everynight but Ive cut that out..)
Ive even cut soda out and Im STILL gaining weight and its always around my stomach, like I have a spare tire..

Ive become completely unhappy with my eating life. Its to the point where nothing sounds good anymore.
I dont know if I have tricked my body into starvation mode or if Im still eating too much or eating wrong...

I know I should exersize more..
I use to do 500 crunches a day followed by 500 leg lifts.. Then it got boring doing the same thing everyday. I cant run out here in fear of being abducted or talked to by some weird neighbor or something....

I dont know where to go with this now.
Anyone experienced anything like this?

If there is really no explanation for the gain, you may want your thyroid tested. It's probably just that you're getting older, but never hurts to be sure. Best do it before the gain is 40 lbs like it was with me. Even when your thyroid is controlled then, your body still holds onto weight differently than before.

Add up your daily calories, if it's under 1400, you may have too little. Also if you're honestly hitting the workouts like that the scale may not move as you're replacing fat with muscle. I tend to go by dress sizes, as the scale may not shirft much when I'm adding muscle.

Interesting! I looked at the signs for thyroid issues and I have a lot of them.
What kind of Dr would I go to for this? I dont want to just go to a "family Dr" type and get blown off..

Like I said it was a while ago when I worked out like that

Your body will start storing what it needs if you don't supply those needs. You can't starve your body into submission. Get the calories you need through healthy foods and if that doesn't work talk to your doctor.

Want me to send you a copy of my insanity workout DVD's? I can't do them while my hip is busted.

On the plus side all the wheelchair use has completely toned my arms.

Either way you need to track intake/output to be sure it's diet/exercise and not medical.

Cardio is more important to weight loss than sit-ups and leg-lifts. An hour or so of cardio every day will make a huge difference (and then your crunches and leg-lifts toning will start to show). Scales are overrated, as weight alone isn't the whole picture of progress.

So what exactly is cardio?
Ive always heard of it just never really understood what it was?

In all honesty Ive felt tired and too run down to do ANYthing with a lot of movement...

I hope I don't get swatted for volunteering someone else like this, but you might want to talk to freemotion about nutrition.
She's helped me and a lot of others identify some nasty weight gain culprits in our diets.
