When to candle eggs?

So I have some eggs under a broody hen and I really don’t know when to candle them? Should I do it on the 10th day or 14th? The eggs are fertile just I don’t know when to candle them. Any information?

10th is an ideal date I think, Atleast that’s when I do them.

Alright thank you, this is my first time hatching chicks so I am trying to be successful with the hatching and growing progress

I start candling on day 8, day 10 is better if you do not want to do it often. All of them should be showing by then. I candle everyday from 8 to maybe 15 and once more when I go into lockdown on day 18.. I might skip a day if I am busy that day. It's not needed that often I just like to keep an eye on things.

Under a broody? You don’t ever really have to candle. But any time after day 7 should allow you to confirm development and remove any clears. (Depending on shell color, etc)

I like to mark the fat end of the egg with a sharpie marker, because I always have hens adding eggs along the way. So that allows me to easily pull new eggs.
