I don't "clean" it unless it actually gets wet or dirty. When the feed level gets low and is mostly powder I dump it out in a bin (pick out any wood chips or other noticeable debris), and that gets served wet the next day. My goal is to keep waste as low as possible, and the chickens love the wet feed.
