I have a broody hen with 3 3 week old chicks. I have someone who wants all of the hens. Well, she thought she was getting them today, but I just don't think they are ready. These are the reasons why; I do not know witch ones are hens yet, I feel bad taking them from their mom, She does not have a brooder or the correct feed for chicks. When is a good time to give them away? I told her maybe in about 2 weeks. Thanks

If she wants for sure hens 5 weeks old is not enough time for sure you will need to wait at least till they are fully feathered out so you can tell which one's may be hens or roos besides this way they can go into a coop not a brooder...
You need to tell her what the right feed and things are as well as have her come here with all of her questions IMHO ( Iwouldn't give her any chicks till I was sure she had all of the right things other then that you can give away chicks the day after they hatch but getting them away from mom may not be that easy

Good luck I hope this helps

you should not give her the chicks until:

1. you are sure which are the hens

2. she has all the nessesary chick stuff: chick starter, brooder ,feeder, waterer, heat lamp, ect.

Thanks, she is not totally inexperienced.... if I made it sound that way. She already has about 15 chickens for eggs and pest control.
