When to help? When to worry?

He has a toy but he doesn't seem to care. He lays with it as a last resort, but you can tell he wants his mommy most.

NO it's got to be a stuffed animal, something with soft fur on it, like a webkidz or something. They love those and don't worry for some reason they wont even make messes on them. At least none of my call ducks did, NOW chickens oh man they could careless but my ducks NEVER once

Here's a pic of my kids loving there's. LOL

This guy just fell RIGHT to sleep in my hand. LOL LOVE HOW THEY SLEEP. Not a care in this world...

My stuffed animal was a three legged bunny.. LOL. EVERYONE LOVES THE THREE LEGGED BUNNY!!! Once that thing warmed up from the heat lamp OMG, IT WAS ON. THEY WERE IN HEAVEN. LOL..

When he's in the broody room, please make sure the temp is at 95, each week lower it down 5 degrees, if he is cold, he will peep a lot, if he's to hot, he will start panting. Doesn't matter what the humidity is, in fact, they don't need humidity in the broody room...

If he's fussing, then he is NOT comfortable, please make adjustments, your on his schedule now, not yours. LOL.

Sometimes they are worst then kids. but we love them more LOL...

OH by way, what does the BOYFRIEND think now that he's out??
Tell him YOUR WELCOME. LMAO!!!

I know of no way except by vent sexing and unless you know what your doing the duckling can be injured. just have to wait till around 5-7 weeks old, but no way can you see carnucling yet. look at tip of bill it will have a sharp tip to it. thats what I was looking for on your but couldn't make it out. Not sure on Rouens but Pekins are loud but a Rouen would be a nice friend or talk to the person you got the egg from and get same breed.

My Scovy duckling at 2 days old turned out to be a drake

Bear in mind, I'm new to this, but what could be wrong with him imprinting on me?

Nothing! I hope that's not what I implied. I prefer that myself, which is why I'm hatching eggs this year and not buying day old+ birds! LOL

Some people don't like the work it takes to keep them not only happy in terms of warmth and food, but the social and emotional stuff that comes with imprinted birds. It's a lot of work! I love it personally. HEH, sorry about the confusion!
