When to mix the New w/the Old

I love this idea!
The other day, I was looking at it thinking “wouldn’t it be nice if the whole thing was the enclosed coop”.
My other option is to buy a shed and replace the coop but if I can modify it, that would be better. The coop does come apart into two separate sections. 🤔
It would be a little different than the one you linked, since the roofline is not the same height from the box to the run.
Thank you so much for commenting because this gives me some serious things to think about and I might be able to get it done in time to get chicks this year.
If you can get a shed and modify it, it would likely give you better results than modifying this little coop/run. However you can still keep this and use it to brood chicks outdoors, which would let you jumpstart the whole integration part and allow you to add chicks earlier.

I turned part of my old prefab into my outdoor brooder, and the chicks start interacting with adults as early as 10-14 days: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/short-on-time-recycle-a-prefab-brooder.73985/

Funny you said that. After posting my last comment to you, I started thinking about the process and it may be better to do a shed because I want a secondary coop for issues or new chickens etc.
I will check out the other link too. Thank you!!

Defintely!
You could butt the shed up to the existing run and leave the small coop inside the run for the new chicks.
Got pics showing the shed and the bigger run?
I’ve been documenting their life on YT so went back through videos and found this picture. We have a small tunnel connecting the kennel to the run.

The coop is really too big to be inside another coop but I could put a shed where the coop is currently and move the coop off to the left maybe connecting them all.

I’m not sure if the kennel would be big enough for 8 hens. (6’x10’).
The 4 I have are fine and go in and out of both. I wonder how much they would go in the shed during the day tho. Would I need to add more outdoor run space?
