When to move to brooder, OK over 24 hours? Help! last chick hurt?

One of my eggs pipped yesterday, and its pipped the small end. Is there anything I can do for it, or is it a goner? I haven't seen much progress yet, but its been less than 24 hours since I first noticed it, so not worried about the lack of progress yet.

I also have two babies out so far!

When is the soonest I can move to brooder without endangering the rest of the hatch? When is the lastest I should move them? Both hatched less than 24 hours ago, so we should be good right now. THanks!

I have had some pip the wrong end before and they still made it out just fine.

Most people dont move them to the brooder for 3 days after hatch , i have done it sooner but just dont want your bator to be open very long.If there are other pips in the bator ,i wait til they hatch before i open.

Wow, three days is a long time. I was hoping to be able to give the chicks back to owners tomorrow, and let them out of incubator today or tomorrow. This way my class could see them and get to hold them. I also wouldn't have to take the chicks home over the three day weekend, and come back up here to work to check on the hatch. This is late hatch, today is day 23.

Could I do this? Or would this kill the remaining eggs?

We're coming up on 24hours since the first one hatched. I have another hatching right now
that I think will be the last one. Is it ok to leave the older one in the bator for another night, or will it need to get out to drink? I'm worring, b/c it will be closer to 30 - 35 hours before I can take it out if I don't do it this afternoon after my last chick hatches. Let me know ASPA as the school day is ending, and I need to do whichever before I go home!

The chicks will be fine for the night. Baby chicks absorb the yolk of the egg right before the hatch so they are good without food or water for 3 or 4 days. That's how hatcheries can ship them without food and water.
As for taking them out of the incubator, as long as they are all dry and fluffy, bring them out and let the kids see and hold them.
I'm so glad there are teachers that do this for kids, they enjoy it so much and it's a great learning experience.

I have had several hatch at the wrong end I would say about 1/2 I had to help out. If it's past 30 hours since they pipped and nothing is happening I would try helping them out IMO. I wouldn't wait longer then 2 days to give them water though. Sometimes it takes a day for them to catch on how to drink. Be sure to remember to dip their beaks in the water a little when you do move them to the brooder. And when they are dry you can take them out of the bator. I have always taken mine out 12 hours after hatch (sometimes before) and I haven't lost any yet. Good luck! Let us know how they all do

Well, that's two different thoughts, lol! I know they absorb the yolk, but I didn't know how long they can go on just that.

However, I'm now worried about the third one. it just came out, and does seem a little weaker than the rest and its trailing a long pink skinny thing behind it, I dont know what it is. I'm a little worried. Any thoughts? I can try and get pic if that would help. What should I do with it?

Here's a pic of the newly hatched chick, and the "long pink thing."

This is the chick who pipped the wrong end. It made it out on its own ok. Humidity spiked really high as it hatched, that's why its still wet.

Looks like the remains of the umbilical cord and yolk sac... Yes, they do have those. I'd put the baby on some moist paper towel, it could get ripped or injured on the wire and that could cause bleeding. I think it will be alright, as long as it is not phenomenally weak or bleeding.
