I need to understand your perspective. My chicks have never had a problem.
I haven't lost a chick from ingested bedding for 25 years+. I put their feeder on some paper towels for less than a day with some feed sprinkled next to it. As soon as I see them using the feeder I remove the towels. Before I used pine pellets I was using The pellets made for wood pellet burning stoves. Hardwood pellets won't hurt them as far as I know, because I've used them without a thought about any adverse affects. Never lost a chick.
