Our chicks are 5 weeks old and I was wondering when they go outside? We have had great weather but nights are still chilly. If we put them in their coop will they still need the light? I am letting them out right now during the day in a confined area so they don't get lost in the yard. They really seem to enjoy being outside!

My 6 week olds are outside full-time now, but I live in Central Florida and the lows at night are only in the 60's. So depending on where you live and how chilly it gets at night, they may need the light on at night if you move them outside full-time.

I put mine out at 2 weeks old. It still gets down to 30 at night but with the heat lamp I put in with them it's fine. They run around then they eat and sleep awhile. I don't let them out during the day yet want them to get use to there coop first. I will let them in the run next week. I would say as long as you keep the heat lamp on for them they will be fine.
