When to sex Japanese Bantams?

I have two mottled Japanese bantam chicks. They are only 8 days old now, but how soon could I reliably sex them?

With single combed chicks it is usually possible to tell the sex by four weeks old. The youngest I have ever been able to tell a cockerel is three weeks so yours are still too young.

Do you have pics by the way? Japanese bantams are one of my wish list breeds but they are so hard to find near me!

A little young I think.
I would post in a week or two. Sometimes cockerels show up early, especially in bantams. But I wouldn't say the others are pullets until six weeks.

I only have 2 chicks.
I wasn't trying to sex them now, I was just curious about how soon I could tell.

Okay. I would try six weeks, to be sure.

Side note; the chicks are just shy of three weeks old.
At this point I am fairly certain I have one cockerel and one pullet as the differences are obvious even at this age.
