I have different aged hens, three have started laying. The others are 3 and 4 weeks in age behind. I have Dominickers, RIR's and Americanas. The Dominickers are the ones that are laying now. I also have 2 mallards and 6 guineas.
Since everybody isn't laying should I wait until everybody is before buying the laying pellets? Do the laying pellets just make them lay better? What benefit do the laying pellets have over regular chicken feed?
On another note, my guineas are only 12 weeks old. I have had to switch them from their higher protein diet to the chicken starter feed simply because they are all housed together now. Will laying pellets be bad for them since they are so young?
Thanks,
Jenn
