When will flea medication with heartworm preventative ever be sold over the counter?

I've used the horse meds for my Great Pyr as well, with no ill effects. The goal is to achieve a similar dosage and schedule to what you would get with actual heartworm meds.

Ivermectin is tricky though, for some breeds like the Collie and certain other herding breeds, it can be deadly because they have a specific gene mutation that makes them hypersensitive. So definitely be careful and look up your dog's breed.

That's right, thank you for the specific breeds. I couldn't remember which ones they were, only that some could have adverse effects from Ivermectin.
