I want to hatch and keep some Kiki quail, but it will require DH's buy-in because I'll need proper housing for them that will protect them sufficiently during winter - which the last few years has been anywhere from, "shoot, hook up the hoses again, it's been dry a month and it's 65 degrees" to, "below zero tonight AGAIN?!" - summer, we get days over 100 in stretches of days to weeks some years, other years we might get a week's worth. High desert prairie. This year it's been all wind all the time. It ensures whatever critter we decide we must keep requires 4 seasons housing during all 4 seasons

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........maybe tell him it's another chicken thing (for a broody hen to be in?) then just make it happen to perfectly be perfect to fit quail and their needs? then just for birthday or christmas be like, "GUESS WHAT" "I GOT YOU SOME QUAIL"

Yeah, over the last 10 years he's gotten very good at identifying birds, it's actually quite impressive I can't fault him for worrying about having another set of critters to care for, making sure they're safe, etc. He's a dyed-in-the-wool creature lover, and extremely exacting about how things are built, which is great, I have safe chickens he brings snacks to every afternoon
