This is my 20 week old barred rock chicken that i am waiting on eggs from. She is the oldest of our chickens and the leader of the group. Her comb and waddles and face are real red but she does not squat yet (i dont think she does). What is your advice on when[IMG]
she will start laying eggs and what i should do in preparation. Thanks

hens will start to lay at around 5 to 7 months what you should have in preparation is a nesting box. I used an old drawer full of hay or you could use a 12" x 12" box with hay

They don't always squat and if with a rooster, they never squat. Squatting is the desire to breed and really has little to do with onset of ovulation.
Looks like she's close. Perhaps another 2 or 3 weeks. When she starts checking out the nests, the eggs will come in the next week.
